(CTEC)
Eighth Annual Riverside Cleanup, Saturday April 17, 2010
9:30 AM to 12:30 PM (or any part thereof)

The Chatham Township Environmental Commission sponsors its Eighth Annual
Earth Day cleanup event along the Passaic River (near Passaic Street Bridge,
between Chatham Township & New Providence). Directions below.
RAIN OR SHINE. FREE REFRESHMENTS.
Cotton work gloves and plastic trash bags will be provided.
Everyone is invited to come at any time during the morning to walk part or
all of the 0.7 mile long stretch of riverbank, pick up trash, prune
multiflora rose plants, and enjoy a taste of spring. The Chatham Township
property is habitat for birds and wildflowers. The goal of the event is to
maintain a pleasant area for nature study along the river.
Parking: park at the New Providence Wastewater Treatment Plant on Passaic
Street directly adjacent to the Passaic Street Bridge.
Directions: Southern Boulevard or Fairmount Avenue to River Road; right onto
River Road; first left onto the Passaic Street Bridge (between Chatham Township and New Providence); as soon as you cross the Passaic Street Bridge, make the very first left onto the short road that leads into the riverside Parking Lot.
Wear old clothes and rubber boots, and if you wish, bring pruning shears and
loppers and your own work gloves. Emphasis will be on pruning multiflora
rose to open up the path. Kids and Scouts with adult supervision are welcome!
