Grandma Scam We have had reports of the "Grandma Scam" recently in town. The suspect will call the victim, usually a widowed or single senior citizen, and pretend to be their grandson or daughter. They will tell the victim they have been arrested and need money for bail. They also indicate they are in California or a western U.S. state. Usually the suspect will tell the victim that they do not want their parents to know and to send the money via Western Union. Once they receive the money they will sometimes try to scam the victim again saying the bail was raised. Many times the victim is out thousands of dollars.
