The Chatham Township Tree Protection Committee is a group of seven volunteers from the community appointed by the Township Committee. They are responsible, by ordinance, for administering the Tree Protection Ordinance. The Committee assists in developing standards and procedures to promote the quality of life for the residents of Chatham Township through the protection of trees on both private and public property. It is the Committee's intent to educate its citizens and encourage the protection and preservation of trees for the benefit and enjoyment of present and future generations. In addition, these regulations will further enhance the township's status as a Tree City USA as recognized by the National Arbor Day Foundation.
