Status of work at Rolling Knolls

1.  All scheduled test pits have been completed.  We will determine shortly if more may be needed.

2.  We expect to complete most of the surface soil sampling scheduled for areas used by the community (i.e. ball field, shooting range, etc.) in the next couple of weeks.

3.   Most of the groundwater sampling wells have been installed.  We have not performed any sampling yet but it is scheduled for the next few months.

4.   Surface water and sediment sampling is expected in December.  We are working to resolve some access issues.

5.   It's been difficult investigating the Great Swamp area.  It's a priority of EPA to make sure that the areas in the swamp are not unduly impacted by our work.  Using heavy equipment in the swamp is proving to be difficult and is causing some delays.

6.   Finally, we will not have actual sampling results until Spring '08.  Once we have validated results we will plan to hold another public meeting to share the information.
